Change Serial Number In Bios Hp 32

**Note: technically, the serial number would change if the motherboard was replaced with a new one--thus the (new) burned-in S/N wouldn't match the labels on the case... but this is a rare/unusual exception.*

Choose Apple Menu > About This Mac to get an overview of your Mac, including your Mac model, processor, memory, serial number, and version of macOS. To see the greater detail provided by System Information, click the System Report button.

As an administrator, you can find details about the ChromeOS devices in your domain in the Google Admin console. You can see the user of each device and review information, such as serial number, enrollment date, and last synchronization. You can also create organizational units to apply settings to different groups of devices.

Click the serial number of any device to see device details. On the left, you can choose to move, disable, deprovision, clear user profiles, or remotely access a device. On Windows 10, the ability to check the computer serial number can come in handy in many scenarios. All mobile devices have a unique identity that is made up of an IMEI number, serial number and model number. The IMEI (or MEID) and serial number are two forms of identification for your phone or tablet. Just like fingerprints for people, these two numbers are different for every phone and tablet. These identifiers help ensure that your device is not a counterfeit and can also help you find it if it is lost or stolen. Additionally, sometimes you may need the IMEI or serial number to redeem special promotions from Samsung.

A serial number and IMEI are similar, but have some differences. The serial number is a unique number assigned by the manufacturer (like Samsung) to help identify an individual device, like a phone, tablet, TV, and so on. For example, your phone's serial number will be different from every other phone Samsung has made. Serial numbers make it easier for the makers to organize and keep track of their products.

On the other hand, an IMEI or MEID is only used for phones or other communication devices. Depending on the carrier, your device will have either an IMEI or MEID. These two numbers are different from a serial number. They are used at an international or global level, not just by manufacturers. Both types of numbers can help network providers track down a device that has been stolen or lost.

Locate your HP laptop's serial number on the bottom of the device or the side or back of an HP desktop PC. You can also look up the serial number from the Command Prompt using the wmic bios get serialnumber command. Find the manufacturing date in the fourth, fifth, and sixth numbers of the serial number to determine the age of your HP computer.

Use the Dell SupportAssist tool to find your device's serial number, which Dell refers to as Service Tag. Open the program or search for SupportAssist > find the Service Tag in the upper-right area of the main screen > visit the Dell support site > enter the serial number > click Search > and select View Warranty Details. Your Dell's manufacturing date is under Ship Date.

DMIEdit is a scriptable command-line utility for DOS, Microsoft Windows, Linux and the UEFI shell. The Desktop Management Interface Editor for Aptio enables developers to modify strings associated with platform SMBIOS tables (System, Base Board, Chassis, OEM string, etc). In manufacturing, use DMIEdit to embed platform serial numbers, UUID and license keys into the SMBIOS table, which identifies platforms to management software.

The bios WMI provider queries the BIOS management to pull the serial number programmed in the BIOS. This is typically set by the system OEM and is generally going to be the serial number for the system as a whole.

The baseboard WMI provider queries the motherboard management to get the serial number of the motherboard itself. This is typically set by the motherboard manufacturer, which may or may not also be the system OEM.

So, dug into the WMIC command and yes, there is a create serialnumber option but it doesn't work. Haven't found an official answer yet but according to feedback, this value is read-only. So I guess it gets set early in the process for a vendor.

In Windows 10, you can see aserial number for the hard disk installed in your PC using the command line. If you need to print it out or just view your hard drive details without restarting your PC or using a third party tool, it can be done with a single command.

A serial number is a unique number assigned to the hardware by its manufacturer. It is used for identification and inventory purposes. A serial number allows the manufacturer to identify a product and get additional information about it. It may be required for replacement, updating firmware, or for checking compatibility with other hardware.
