Driver Version 5.1 2600.5512
An upgrade version of Windows XP Home was released on April 23, 2005, the original release of all Windows XP drivers, upgrades to Windows 2000 drivers, and security, mandatory telemetry, and telemetry cornerstones (IRLAC and LANCAC).
A boxed copy of Professional was released on November 20, 2005. As with Professional, boxed copies were sold as either Upgrade or Full versions. It can be upgraded to Windows XP, Windows 2000, and Windows XP Starter Edition, but not Windows Vista.[57] Unlike Home, it fully supports Windows' software license agreement, replacing any mention of refunding an OEM with a provision that simply requires the end user to remove the media within 14 days and return the media to the manufacturer within 60 days of purchase.[58] As such, some retailers have begun to take advantage of this to offer a refund exchange offer: a customer who returns a copy of Windows XP Professional may receive a free copy of the Consumer Edition.[59][120]
Windows Vista was released for retail sale on October 29, 2007.[6][2] To prepare the operating system for wide-scale rollout, Microsoft began to release beta builds on August 5, 2006, and public beta builds on May 23, 2006. Originally set for release in the fall of 2006, Windows Vista has twice been delayed and nearly three times overspent -- most recently, it was originally planned for release in 2006 for $199, but a June 2008 post on news.cnet.com said that the release would be pushed back to "sometime in 2007", which was followed by multiple further delays -- first to the end of 2007, then to February 2008, to June 2008, then to October 2008, to February 2009, to April 2010, to February 2011 and on to July 30, 2013.[3] d2c66b5586
